Since the inception of the British Memorial Garden Trust, the Garden has received the generous support and ongoing commitment of a wide array of societies and organizations. The Trust is very grateful to all of them for their help in making the British Memorial Garden possible. 85 Broads is a global network of over 6,000 women worldwide. Originally founded as a network for current and former Goldman Sachs women professionals, the network was expanded in 2000 with the launch of Broad2Broad which is our unique co-mentoring initiative for current women MBA's from some of the top business schools in the world. In 2003 the network was once again expanded with the launch of Broad2Be which is our equally unique co-mentoring initiative with women students at some of the nation's leading undergraduate schools. The network was founded in 1999 by Janet Hanson.

The British Schools and Universities Club of New York was founded in 1895, to promote friendship and good fellowship among men, and more recently women, of British and Commonwealth education, and for the encouragement of cultural and intellectual pursuits. Various social functions, both formal and informal, are held during the year. Members are encouraged to bring business associates and friends to these events.

Daughters of the British Empire

For over three quarters of a century, The Daughters of the British Empire in the U.S.A. has been a common bond for women of British heritage living in America. Members, joining together in fellowship, contribute significantly to the good of their local communities and support the four retirement homes for men and women established by the DBE. The DBE is a charitable, non-profit, non-political, non-sectarian, voluntary American society of women of British or Commonwealth birth or ancestry. Its members are professionals, businesswomen and homemakers with common interests and heritage, who meet regularly for business and social events with the common cause of philanthropy.

The Georgian Group is the charity dedicated to preserving Georgian buildings and gardens. Each year we are consulted on over 6,000 planning applications involving demolition or alterations. We are not opposed to change, but our intervention has helped protect many buildings from unsympathetic alterations. It is often through our influence that a better solution is found.

Mountbatten Internship Programme

The Mountbatten Internship Programme promotes educational and business links between the USA and the UK. We aim to give graduates and young professionals the opportunity to gain practical and theoretical business experience, whilst also developing social and cultural awareness and understanding. We have two Programmes, both 12 months long: one, for non-Americans, in New York City; and one, exclusively for Americans, in London.

New York Caledonian Club

The New York Caledonian Club held its first Highland games in 1857, and continued to hold a Highland Games annually for 67 consecutive years until 1933. Many colleges and universities sent their best athletes to compete in the Games. Once the greatest and most important of all Caledonian Clubs in America, the New York Caledonian Club subsided after World War II. It was revived on Bannockburn Night, the 24th of June 1981; in commemoration of the day Robert the Bruce secured Scotland’s independence from the English on the 24th of June 1314. The 6th of April is recognized here in America as Tartan Day, which commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Abroath.

Society of Colonial Wars In the State of New York

The Society of Colonial Wars was incorporated in New York State on 7 October 1892. The Society is a historical, educational, and patriotic non-profit, 501(c)3 organization. Our purposes include perpetuating among their descendants the memory of the brave and hardy men who assisted in establishing the Colonies of America during the period from the settlement of Jamestown, May 13, 1607, to the battle of Lexington, April 19, 1775. The Society preserves documents and artifacts of the Colonial period and has from time to time published papers held in its collection. We have placed many memorials at historical colonial sites and each year participate in patriotic observances. The Society also awards scholarships to high school and college students and presents an annual book award.

St. Andrews Society of the State of New York

The Society was founded in 1756 for “…the relief of natives of Scotland and their descendants who may be in want or distress.” Now celebrating its 250th anniversary year, The Society still performs that mission providing emergency aid and stipendiary assistance. It also awards graduate level scholarships for two Scottish students studying in the United States, and for two Scottish-American students studying in Scotland.

St. David's Society of New York

The Society had its origins in a small group of Welshmen who banded together to found the Ancient Britons Benefit Society of New York City in 1805. It was reorganized in 1835 as the St. David's Benefit and Benevolent Society when it was decided to honor Wales' patron saint by assuming his name. From its earliest origins, especially during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, the Society provided assistance on behalf of newly arrived Welsh men and women, many of whom spoke only Welsh. The Society has its own burial plot for indigent Welsh folk on a grassy knoll in Cypress Hills Cemetery. Proper homage is given to St. David in the form of an annual banquet, that has been part of its program ever since its founding. The Society's office is located at 47 Fifth Avenue, New York City 10003-4303.

St. George's Society of New York

St. George’s Society has provided relief to British and Commonwealth persons living in the metropolitan area for over two centuries. It is a private membership organization, one of the oldest in the city, and receives no government funding. Entirely supported by income from activities, members and endowment, the Society supports almost 70 beneficiaries, half of whom are from the United Kingdom and the remainder from Commonwealth countries. Whatever their origin, all are elderly or physically handicapped and unable to get by on their incomes; and, in the Society’s estimation, merit assistance. St. George’s offers monthly stipends, emergency grants and the services of a professional social worker. The membership totals more than 700 and is made up of Britons and Americans, all of whom believe in the Society’s mission and philosophy expressed in its motto: “Let mercy be our boast and shame our only fear.”
